NaNoWriMo in Nottingham?Britain's one-and-only Nottingham hasn't been left out of the month-long insanity that is NaNoWriMo.
The group first started meeting in 2003 in the fantastically eerie Pit and Pendulum in Nottingham City Centre. In that first year, the largest group we managed to assemble was about eight people. However, in 2004 we decided to move to the Malt Cross on St. James's Street as even in our small group we were struggling to all fit around tables. This was also the year we got our very own region and forum, "Europe :: England :: Nottingham", rather than being part of the England :: Elsewhere forum. We left the Malt Cross in 2015 and have been trying out alternative venues that can cater to the group's size ever since, although we spent most of that year at The Roebuck, a Wetherspoons bar opposite the Malt Cross. We've also tried The Bell Inn, The Pit and Pendulum (again), and for 2017 we're (usually) back at The Roebuck (see below), although we're always on the lookout for any reasonably-priced location that can accommodate a large group of unruly writers! |

Where We Meet
|
Currently the monthly meetups are being held on the first Saturday of every month at The Roebuck Inn, 9-11 St. James's Street, Nottingham.
From the Market Square, move away from the Council House and up towards Cardzone and Game. Take the narrow road between Lloyds Bank and The Skipton Building Society. The Roebuck is on the left hand side approximately halfway up the street. Meets usually begin at around 11am and can carry on until 2pm-4pm—although if you want to attend later or leave earlier, don't let that put you off joining us for however long you prefer. |
